The large cockpit (110 sq ft) will accommodate fishing or entertaining with complete rerigged fighting chair and fully painted cockpit. As you enter thru the sliding door into the salon there is an L-shaped custom built lounge on your port side with day chairs to starboard. Down two steps aft is the galley. On the port side opposite the galley is a stateroom with dual bunks with a private door to the head. Farther forward is the V berth. It also has a door to the large head with a separate shower.

This new Hatteras 42 Convertible will interest every sportfisherman-and will also appeal to his wife. The spacious deckhouse-salon is one if the many features wives have told us they like.
The beam, window-to-window, is 10â4â?; the length from aft to forward bulkhead is 10â. Headroom is 6â4â?. The sliding windows with tinted glass are screened, both port and starboard and afford generous light and excellent viewing. The curved sectional lounge opens to a full size bed. Salon deck is carpeted. Recessed overhead lights.
In the standard arrangement, the lower controls are located in the forward, starboard corner. Chart deck area is 24 sq. ft., affords space for accessories. Entrance to galley is only two steps down.
Galley-easy accessibility to deckhouse affords the cook talking companionship with persons in the salon while attending to her cooking. It is an efficient, spacious galley with three burner electric stove, oven with rotisserie. Overhead hood and exhaust fan. 15.9 cu. Ft. upright refrigerator-freezer has split doors and is comparable to that found on the larger cruisers.
Counter tops are pressure laminated. Stainless steel sink has hot and cold pressure water system. 110 volt outlets for appliances. Glass rack. Storage lockers have approximately 8 cu. ft. of space. Damp chaser in one locker. 110 volt lighting with 12 volt safety lights. Overhead screened hatch. Vinyl flooring. Entrance doors to master stateroom, head and to bow stateroom.
The large fly bridge has forward facing and side seats, comfortably cushioned with vinyl covered polyfoam. Seats are long enough for most people to snooze or sunbathe. There are full instruments and controls on the bridge. Lighted constellation compass. Dual lever controls. Windshield. Stainless steel safety rails. Adjustable helmsman seat. Protected space in console for electronics.
Note the easily accessible ladder. Cockpit controls are optional. Also optional are bait and tackle box, outriggers and the fishing chair. Optional gin pole for bringing aboard the BIG ones.
The aft view of the deckhouse shows how the cockpit adds additional area for liveable spaciousness-and so handy for party time or entertaining.
Hinged door permits use of aft bulkhead for built-ins. Optional entertainment center with bar and ice maker shown.
Master stateroom is spacious and comfortable. It has two full size bunks with foam mattresses, one athwartship and one fore-and-aft. Four drawers under the fore-and-aft bunk and another drawer under the lower bunk provide approximately 11 cu. ft. of storage space. Hanging locker has approximately 18 cu. ft. of storage space and a full length mirror on the door. There is a door to the head and an entrance door to companionway (opposite galley). Deck is carpeted. One screened portlight and an overhead screened hatch. Berth light; 110 volt duplex outlet. Headroom 6â4â?.
An example of engineering excellence is the comprehensive and complete electrical system. The master electric control panel is installed in convenient location for easy visibility and access. It provides central control and protection for both 12 volt and 110 volt systems. Electric control panel with circuit breakers, distribution switches, volt meter, ampere consuming meter, battery condition meter, indicator light, polarity check and navigation lights.
The 42 Convertible pictured here has optional air conditioning with reverse cycle heating. A separate electric panel for electronics is optional.
The bow stateroom has two 6â3â? bunks with foam mattresses. It has a stainless steel lavatory; also a toilet. The deck is carpeted. There is a light over each bunk. The hanging locker has approximately 18 cu. ft. of space. There is a shelf near the top. The amount of storage space in the drawers under the bunks and in the locker space beneath the bunks is approximately 9 cu. ft. The rope locker has room for storing gear and ample space for anchor line. There is a mirror mounted over the lavatory. There is a screened portlight both port and starboard overhead is a screened hatch. The door to the companionway provides privacy.
The master head is large and complete with entrance from the galley and from the master stateroom. The stand-up stall shower has a door. Vinyl flooring. Attractive wall coverings. Hot and cold water. The built-in vanity has a vitreous china basin; a medicine cabinet with mirror and fluorescent light above, 110 volt duplex outlet. There is better than 3 cu. ft. of storage space for linens and supplies in the base of the vanity. It has an electric toilet. There is an exhaust blower for better ventilation.
